                             Shining, Shimmering Splendid

That’s the first thing that came up to my mind with this very brilliant movie. Well, every movie that I write about has its own story, so I’m going to tell Burlesque’s. One boring day, I’m in front of my desktop, trying to figure out what movie to watch. And I can’t seem to find the one that I’d like. I was really craving for something, ugh, I don’t know how to explain it. But I just can’t seem to find the joy in watching the movies that I have, until one of my classmates recommended Burlesque.  I can say that it did not disappoint me. It really fed my appetite for a really great movie. I nearly cried after the movie because it was really so beautiful. It’s like a modern classic. It’s really very entertaining that I could watch it over and over again.

Honestly, my idea of Burlesque was quite different from what the movie showed, like Ali, in the movie, I thought of it as more of a striptease, since I grew knowing that the meaning of burlesque was getting naked. Going on, I have to say that when I was a teenager I’m more of a Britney Spears fan than Christina, but I do have her tapes as well. Having been able to watch her in this movie and in The Voice, I must say, that I have become a big fan. She’s really great actress and of course singer. Moving again, about Cher, I don’t know why I’m scared of her before, maybe because her look was more of, should I say “mataray/masungit” but seeing her pictures, she was really beautiful, and she was just lovely to watch in this film. I really loved it when she sung “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me”. Lastly for this paragraph, let me just say that  I love Stanley Tucci's (Sean) performance, I kind of wish I was Tess because of him! This movie would not be the same without him. Also, Eric Dane (McSteamy of Grey's Anatomy), who played Marcus was handsome as ever.

                         Burlesque (Drama,Musical, Romance)

Now about the movie, well, I guess the plot was not something different from those we have used to; it’s the dance and song numbers that made it one of a kind. The story revolves around a town-girl dreamer, Ali (Christina Aguilera), who aspires to be a great performer. She went from Iowa to LA to make her dreams come true. There she passed by Burlesque Lounge, some sort of club/theatre and she was amazed by how the dancers performed and determined to be one of them. There he met Tess (Cher), the owner, and worked in the lounge first as a waitress then eventually as one of the performers.

Ali was really a fighter in the movie; I could never see myself being her, being so assertive and strong-minded. She knows what her talents are, what she wants in life and fights for them. I think I speak for everyone, okay maybe not for everyone, that the best part of the movie was when that jealous evil b*tch pulled off the sound system when Ali was lip syncing/performing.  Ali then took the courage and began to sing acapella and the band joined her.  She sang "Tough Lover", it was just amazing! But of course other numbers were special as well, my other favorites would be the last one "Show me how you Burlesque", "Express", oh my bad, again it's E-X-P-R-E-S-S, "But I Am a Good Girl","Guy What Takes His Time". I think I've mentioned them all except for the one which is not Burlesque like.  Not really a big fan of that number, I preferred the one that Cher performed "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me". But over-all, the numbers were all great; the choreography, music, costumes, props and lighting, they were all just exceptional.

I really do recommend that you watch this movie. If you have already, I suggest you watch it again!
